🥋 Is 1.6 Tdi A Good Engine
The engine we’re trying here is the 1.6-litre turbodiesel, which offers its modest 118bhp in good faith, but is hamstrung by an offbeat power curve that eludes the best efforts of the manual
Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020) TDI Reliability Euro5 vs Euro6. Looking for advice before pulling the triger. I am in the process of buying a used Octavia mkiii TDi (1.6 or 2.0 not yet decided) for commuting 33k km/yr (all of them on highway). The Mitsubishi ASX works best with diesel. Although the 1.8-litre unit has 150PS, it’s noisy, with lots of clatter, but it pulls strongly from low gears thanks to 300Nm of torque. In 2013, Mitsubishi added a 150PS 2.2-litre diesel to the range, with more torque and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

This is the Skoda Octavia Greenline, complete with the new 1.6-litre commonrail turbodiesel engine that is being rolled out across the Volkswagen Group. The engine replaces the old 1.9-litre
LOL. TDI's don't even need the glow plugs till -6c (20f) or lower. I started mine today at -4c with no glow plugs and a tired battery. 430k and not only that but it is a M-TDI with no cold start advance. The electronic engines start even better then that. For the old style 1.5 and 1.6, it is good you are looking at them in the winter.
TDI.. if you got it, use it.. no reason to throw a 1.6 in there if you have better engines. the TDI is 15% more efficient. and i imagine would be more happy pushing that heavy wagon around, than a 1.6 would.
